I'm blasting out Ry Cooder and it means I can't hear the girls when they say things over in the living room. Checking my blog and my email. I have to pee.

I was posting on Spanglemonkey at 10:10. My new skylight looks great, doesn't it? It opens everything up. I'm listening to Rubenstein playing Brahms. Ahh.

At Whole Foods. I really need to get my mind out of the gutter!

At 10:10 I have just finished putting these plants in the ground in my ongoing effort to block the view of Neighbor Bob's rotting woodpile. The ladder is a gift from the roofers, who are returning today to install the skylight. I am singing "MY LOVELY LADY LUMPS" to myself tunelessly and relentlessly and sweating so much I can't actually see in three dimensions any more.

See, where the new skylight is going to be? It's kind of nifty with the blue plastic over it, but it will be better with an actual window. It will open, even! Cool! Here at 10:10 I was posting on Spanglemonkey, writing essays assigned to me by readers. I know I should have been doing work on the short story I'm working on, but this was more fun. Won't it be great when we finally get rid of that horrid light fixture?

The desk in front of me is the one of the "director of advertising" and so she received a lot of stuffs from ad provider like TV and newspaper. This time it is a hamac and we put in over her desk... My boss do not at all understand this "student" joke ;-)

Behold, The Canine Malcolm.  He's getting big, brutish and badass.  I'm working on the laptop in the dining area and The Canine Malcolm sits sentinel on the next chair, protecting me from the robbers.

My living room in its current iteration. I'm sitting at my desk getting myself prepared for the weeks of work I must enact before the Big Writer's Conference. I need to plug in the speakers so I can listen to Rubenstein play Chopin, and I can't figure out what's not working. Dag nabbit. Logistics! They'll kill us all! I want to get started writing but my ducks are not lining up.

At 10:10 Manny and I were having a serious relationship talk. It has been brewing for months, since we moved, and one or the other of us has been away for long periods of time for vacations or work, and we need to reconnect. We're talking about our fears, in particular. It's strangely comforting that we are talking this way, it's been so long coming.
