At 10:10 a coffee minion brought me my green tea, and I settled down for a good peruse of the shop's Vanity Fair. I was already caffeinated to the gills from my morning exploits. Yop!

Ye old propane tank house in our backyard. I was recycling at 10:10 and this was my view to the left looking up from the buckets of plastics, empty dog food cans, magazines and newspapers. The propane tank house is a masterpiece of recycling unto itself - created from an old fence and gate. More recycling - a rusty wheelbarrow turned planter. The scrubbing board completes the mode du shabby chic.

Jury duty! Yesterday this foyer was packed with potential jurors, but today at 10:10, it's comparatively empty. Sounds: echo-ey murmurs and many shrill beeps from the metal detecting gates below, plus my footsteps on the stairs. I like it here. The psychic residue from hundreds of worried people daily lends an edginess to the day. Still, will be glad to move on.

Green tea, at the coffeeshop with Squid, Badger, and Eliz. Note the mug with the periodic table printed on its side, a present to Eliz from Badger. Joy! Much beloved already. We're debating whether the preschool is on the same schedule as the traditional, or the year-round schools. "It seems like it would be like the white kid schools," I said. This made the woman from Iron Gate conversing with us react a little. I have trouble reading it.

At 10:10 I was dropping off Eliz with her fabulous teacher, who is her coach for an upcoming science competition. They must build a bridge this week, and must display creativity; they have decided to have music, and a samurai, who will show them all how to do origami (played by Eliz.) It's such a beautiful day that it's hard for them to go inside and me to go home. We're talking about what instruments are best to learn. "All of them!" says the teacher, to Eliz. She's so great.

It's a holiday for beancounters today. I'm at the computer desk, panicking juuust ever so slightly, because I can't find the info relating to possible jury duty tomorrow. Heck. I hope I didn't leave it at the office. The desktop wallpaper was made by Bunny, in case you couldn't guess!
