I think the term for what I've done to my children this afternoon, in England, would be that I "fagged them out." And before you cry foul, know that I have managed to make them both flat. They are just thiiiis far from falling asleep. And it's quarter till six! I am a superior mother! I predict that we will all be snoring by nine.
Sophie swam for two hours straight (again with the slang terms of sexuality! you may now make double-entendres in the comments, as long as you leave my children out of it, since they are free to express themselves when they wish, but only after I am completely ready for them to be adults. my blog. reminder.) and Eliz had ice skating, which she resented horribly because one of the other campers, a mere slip of a six-year-old, is a figure skater and ready to turn pro. Damn little kids! The nerve.
Why have I not heard from the editor? Is it a good thing? Can silence be "read" at all, one way or the other?
I've decided that even if the answer is a polite "we'll pass," that it has been a good experience to once again be thaaaat close to publication. Each time it seems more likely. Eventually it will happen. My books will see the light of day. It's a matter of persistence.
I hope Gracie comes to bad mom coffee tomorrow. Grace? Bad momming? You can be first on the beer bong!
Beer bongs are involved? Sheeeeet, mama.

Yes, it is absolutely a matter of persistance.
And I'm so bummed I didn't get to hang out with you more at BlogHer.

Not trying to compare you to J.K. Rowling but you have to remember that even she was rejected by an editor (actually the company that an old friend of mine worked for, dohhh) at one point...and now she's like a billionaire.
A friend of mine is a freelance illustrator and it will often take weeks for the art directors to get back to him. They've got so many projects going at once. You are an excellent writer and that editor will be contacting you in no time flat.
