I think life is difficult for everyone. Everyone in the entire world, for reasons as varied as there are people. But that's a remarkable fact, that difficulties are a universal in a world without very many universals. It unites us as people. I don't think life is that difficult for my cat, for instance. He doesn't seem to worry. But people? We're worriers. We plan for the future and try to control things that are out of our control, and it makes us unhappy. All this striving has us encountering difficulty after difficulty.
But it's not all bad, the striving. Even though it creates difficulties, striving is also the reason that we get things done. We have vision and foresight and sometimes it actually works out, often in unexpected ways.
