I'm all gussied up and ready for my mock interview. I'm wearing a jacket I've had for a really long time but never worn, apparently, because it still had the tags hanging from it.
Today's job I applied for was at the local Barns and Nobel, being a Merchandise Manager, whatever that means. I assume it's book ordering? Or possibly being a security guard? Hard to tell.
I think I need to be able to explain the long years without a job. I was raising kids and writing novels at the time, but because nothing has been published I don't really know if I want to go into it. I was blogging and going out for coffee, and then I was in school full time. Better to say I was writing. That's much more interesting and sound legit.
Rose, please email me, I can't figure out what your email address is.
"Merchandise Manager", I like it!! I too went many years w/o working, b/c I was spoiled, and when I did go back I said I had investment income and spent those years doing volunteer work, which was true but I totally embellished the charities!
I Can't imagine anyone not understanding the huge job of being a mom.

On my resume, I used to explain my long absence from working (seven years) as "Maternity Leave."
