I managed to get to the bank before dropping Eliz off, and talked to Ep on the phone. This means that I"m particularly late and I won't make it to the Y this morning. Too bad. Maybe I can get a walk in after I see pdoc. Anyway tomorrow morning I"ll have time, if the Y is open.
Do you have music in your head all the time? I always wonder if other people do and where the phenomenon comes from. And is it just a melody or is it the entire band or orchestra?

Nothing she wrote before Bel Canto can ever compare, but this novel was pretty good anyway.
Sara Gruen: Water for Elephants: A Novel
Wow, I really like this book. It's entertaining, has good characters and is well-plotted.

Mei Ng: Eating Chinese Food Naked: A Novel
This book jumped around from character to character in point of view, which took some getting used to. Overall it was pretty entertaining.
Samantha Gillison: The Undiscovered Country
Sort of a dreamy read. A couple with a child go to the interior of New Guinea and their marriage frays gradually. With a surprise ending!
Khaled Hosseini: A Thousand Splendid Suns
In some ways better than his first, this book chronicles two women's lives in Afghanistan first under Soviet rule and then under the Taliban. I enjoyed it despite the hardships.
Anita Amirrezvani: The Blood of Flowers: A Novel
This was a good novel, very informative on the subject of rugmaking and social practices of the middle east a couple of hundred years ago.

Each chapter is another character among people who know each other in Baltimore.
Ann Patchett: Run
The story of one fateful night when a family confronts itself. It's subtle and well-written and comes out in a satisfying way.
Kim Edwards: The Memory Keeper's Daughter
Great premise; a doctor delivers his own twins, and gives away the one with down syndrome to his nurse: sentimentally done. I enjoyed the book for the characters, however.
i absolutely have music in my head all the time. it's the whole singer, drums, guitar, bass, etc. unless it's a chrismas song or children's song. very strange when i'm trying to meditate and "silent night" keeps running around in my head... in the middle of summer!

not in general, but i do find that i often, and when i least expect it, find myself internally humming lamberts, hendrix & ross' "twisted", which probably i would first have heard as a teenager, and by joni mitchell.

Oh, totally. it's been about three weeks that I've had Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" stuck in my head. Most of the time it's random stuff. I keep getting rick rolled.
