Almost Poised
It was a good birthday for Eliz, I think. Twelve is so funny, one minute grown up and serious and the next minute giggling and silly with her friend and Sophie. We went to see Prince Caspian, which was one long war scene that would have freaked the shit out of me as a kid (but didn't seem to faze my children, who live in a different age) and it was pretty good. We picked up Jules and rode the train to Millbrae to Eliz's favorite restaurant which has Japanese rooms where your feet dangle into a hole in the floor and you have to take off your shoes to enter the little room. We went out for ice cream afterwards at the place by the movie theater and the girls got really truly wild at that point.
Now I need to get ready pretty quickly since I'm helping out with the food this morning at church. Have to be there in an hour. Well, come to think of it, I'm probably right on time. But I do have to move.
Eliz got a special invitation to come to DC next year and meet senators and have a full slate of congressional things to do. There are like two kids a year from Big Noggin who get invited. I'm proud on her. I suppose this means she'll have to fly alone. Or does she need a parent along?
A lot of airlines let you fly alone at 12 but I would bet that all the kids from our district or the area go with a chaperone!
p.s. Wow... I'm so proud!
