Near the Top: Negotiating My Own Driveway
Eliz's best friend Jules is something of a Mean Girl, it seems. She makes fun of Eliz for such things as liking Webkins and seems to give a lot of hell to Amar, a boy she talks about incessantly when I see her. I hope he realizes that her attention probably means that she likes him, a fact I'm sure she would complain against mightily but one that as an adult you will admit is probably the truth.
I have a feeling that in a few years I won't have any idea what life is like for them. Already they've gone off into some kind of pre-teen land of their own. Eliz, luckily, can stand up to Jules pretty well, though now she claims she doesn't like Webkins any more and that they're childish, which was jules' thing the whole way along.
I'm considering taking the bull by the horns and writing down everything that makes me anxious, and going about dealing with them systematically. Possibly I can get out of the hell that is my anxiety disorder by doing it step by step. Worst thing being public speaking itself, something I don't have to do this semester, whew. I do have to record something on Elluminate but that won't be much of a problem, just reading into a microphone.
Time enough to do a bit of reading before Eliz returns home from her tutoring gig. Sophie, btw, got a reprieve from doing her presentation until tomorrow, so today I think I'll help her write up an actual talk about her subject.
Without Mean Girl friends, our kids wouldn't get enough practice on how to deal with people later in life, because let's face it, Mean Girls often turn into Meaner Women. I'm not sure what cute movie reference to use for boys, but I bet there is one.

I feel guilty -- she's actually a good girl and a good friend to Eliz. But sometimes! She comes out with this stuff!
