Stephen King: Dreamcatcher
Too gross for words.
Ann Patchett: Taft: A Novel (P.S.)
Nothing she wrote before Bel Canto can ever compare, but this novel was pretty good anyway.
Sara Gruen: Water for Elephants: A Novel
Wow, I really like this book. It's entertaining, has good characters and is well-plotted.
Karen Joy Fowler: Wit's End
Go, KJF!
Mei Ng: Eating Chinese Food Naked: A Novel
This book jumped around from character to character in point of view, which took some getting used to. Overall it was pretty entertaining.
Samantha Gillison: The Undiscovered Country
Sort of a dreamy read. A couple with a child go to the interior of New Guinea and their marriage frays gradually. With a surprise ending!
Khaled Hosseini: A Thousand Splendid Suns
In some ways better than his first, this book chronicles two women's lives in Afghanistan first under Soviet rule and then under the Taliban. I enjoyed it despite the hardships.
Anita Amirrezvani: The Blood of Flowers: A Novel
This was a good novel, very informative on the subject of rugmaking and social practices of the middle east a couple of hundred years ago.
Stanley E. Ely: Living Alone Creatively: How Twelve People Do It
Anne Tyler: Celestial Navigation
Each chapter is another character among people who know each other in Baltimore.
Ann Patchett: Run
The story of one fateful night when a family confronts itself. It's subtle and well-written and comes out in a satisfying way.
Kim Edwards: The Memory Keeper's Daughter
Great premise; a doctor delivers his own twins, and gives away the one with down syndrome to his nurse: sentimentally done. I enjoyed the book for the characters, however.

Dude! I can't believe how much y'all did on Saturday!
Jo's performance at the Hippy's bday party was inspiring and moving. Not that I was surprised!
BUT!!! When I told my mother about it yesterday I said "...pictures while she read some passages from her blog." and Mom was all "Blog??? What's the address?" and I said "Um. You need to forget I ever said that. It's a secret." and she wailed "But why is it a secret from ME??" and I said that it was because we used the blog to say mean things about her. She thought that was pretty funny and let it go.

I wonder. What if? Nah. We can't let her read it. Maybe Chuckles, but not her. We couldn't make jokes about how tall she is and etc. Or grill each other about what, exactly, we've eaten since the last time we spoke.

No no no, she can't know! It's nice to have a forum where I can write whatever I want about her, which is usually nice, but she's really sensitive.
We can't tell Chuckles either, 'cause he'd totally tell her.
She asked me if I had a blog too and I told her no. I'm pretty sure she bought it.
