Biography

I am a writer who lives near San Francisco. I write children's books, political articles, articles about parenting, novels, and I have a billion ideas for which I never quite have time. Every few months I invent things like the ladle, since I can't remember what actually exists in the world and what doesn't. I have two children, 7 and 4, and an interesting, handsome husband whose job I have been told never to divulge. He's a hottie, but a mysterious one.

I am a Unitarian Universalist. I like the strange people and vague but sincere ideas. I like people who think a lot, and I really like coffeeshops.

I've had a lot of jobs, including cashier at a massage parlor and hot tub joint, process server, solderer at a stained glass studio, and teacher of Freshman Comp. for college students. I figured out I didn't like teaching, after 3 years or so, and at that point abandoned my Ph.D. studies in English Lit., though I had taken all the classes I needed, and more. My dissertation would have been on the subject of the Post Office, 18th Century Epistolary Novels about women, and the fact that the post office would have been suspiciously "democratic" to most of the readers of such books.

I suggest that anyone reading this should vote Democrat in 2004, or consider themselves thoroughly reamed by savagely self-serving old white guys. Seriously, I don't care how rich you are, they are NOT looking out for anyone's interests. Not even their own. Their having been put in office mystifies and disheartens me.

I can't really shut up when I'm in front of a keyboard. But who cares? It's my blog.
